Synopsis
Chris Rohrlach, the good man of the title, seems like an ordinary Australian 'bloke'. We discover him mustering sheep on his farm in New South Wales. But Chris's is an extraordinary story. Fourteen years ago, his pregnant girlfriend Rachel had a massive stroke that left her incurably quadriplegic at the young age of 21. Chris was undeterred, for him Rachel was still Rachel, and he married her shortly after their baby was born. That baby is now a teenage boy and Chris and Rachel have just found they are having another child. If that is not enough responsibility for Chris, life on the farm is tough and he desperately needs a second income. To the horror of many local townspeople, Chris decides to open a small, legal brothel. Poignant, funny and deeply moving, this is a powerful tale of love, commitment, the unique culture of Australian country people, and a resilience that seems to know no bounds.
