Synopsis

Former card dealer Tim Allen leaves his fellow cowboys to visit his brother Terry, with whom he plans a reunion celebration. While Tim makes his way to Canyon City, their meeting place, Terry feels lucky and decides to investigate Canyon City's gambling halls. He is directed by a local resident to visit George Beck, the town's only honest gambler. Terry goes to the Lone Star saloon, where he is fleeced by card shark Coldeye Carnell, who has passed himself off to Terry as Beck. Meanwhile, Tim rescues a beautiful girl named Helen, who is being followed by three suspicious-looking men. Tim escorts her home to Canyon City, and on the way, the free-spirited, modern-thinking couple become attracted to each other. When Tim arrives at Terry's boardinghouse, he is informed that his brother was shot in the back. As he dies, Terry tells Tim that he was cheated and shot by Beck. Overcome with grief and seeking a means for revenge, Tim goes to Coldeye's saloon, where he earns the friendship of Mollie, Coldeye's paramour, when he protects her from the advances of a drunken cowboy. Coldeye recognizes Tim and suggests that he return to his former occupation of dealing cards. Coldeye explains that he has a plan to ruin his rival, Beck, and Tim falls in with his scheme. Later, Helen takes Tim to meet her father, whom he is surprised to learn is Beck. Despite his feeling of hatred for Beck, Tim is able to ask for and receive a job at Beck's Golden Eagle saloon. Tim quickly uses his skills as a dealer to ruin Beck by insuring that Coldeye's planted men always win. Tim accuses Beck of murdering Terry, but Beck denies the charge. One of Coldeye's men overhears the exchange and rushes to inform Coldeye, who decides to leave town with his gang rather than face Tim's wrath. Coldeye callously leaves Mollie behind, and in revenge, she tells Tim the truth about his brother's murder just as Beck and Helen convince him to go to the Golden Eagle and confront Coldeye. Mollie tells Tim the location of Coldeye's hideout, and after Tim leaves, Beck and Helen gather a posse to assist him. Tim recovers Beck's money and has his revenge on Coldeye. Beck then forgives Tim for his suspicions, and Helen accepts Tim's love.
