Synopsis
As a reward for his perfection as a valet, Oliver receives from Mr. Van Warner, his employer, a month's paid vacation, a complete wardrobe, and an admonition to enjoy himself as a gentleman. Before Oliver leaves, however, Warner asks him to call on his friend Colonel Breen at the Gotham Club. The colonel is away, but Oliver is assumed to be a close friend and is introduced as just having arrived from India, a fact strengthened by his knowledge of the recipe of the colonel's favorite drink, Bombay Bombshell. Mr. Bannister insists that Oliver be his guest, and another member presents him with 5,000 shares of American Tin. At the Bannister home he falls in love with Mrs. Mallin, the housekeeper, and is helpful with Junior, the wayward son. When, to his dismay, he loses his money in a market crash, Oliver is branded an imposter by Colonel Breen; but he is reinstated by Van Warner and wins the love of Mrs. Mallin.
