Synopsis

John Raglan, a seal hunter on small Alaskan islands that are owned by large corporations, is a poacher according to the law. Therefore, when John's enemy, Haage, and his henchman, Bruno, steal his seal skins, he has no legal recourse. John moves to another island, and when he discovers that Haage has followed him there, he dynamites the dock to prevent his boat from landing. With the dock destroyed, John is unable to leave the island and continues to hunt. One day, while listening to his radio, John hears a distress call from a sinking yacht. After spotting the vessel, John manages to rescue its passengers and crew: Judge Bridle; his niece, Camilla; her suitor, Ralph Dawson; her friend, Ruby Clark; and Carlson, a sailor. Judge Bridle turns out to be the owner of the island on which John is hunting, and although Camilla reminds her uncle that John saved their lives, he threatens to have John imprisoned for poaching. In order to ensure his hunting privileges through the hunting season, John decides to keep the shipwrecked group on the island by preventing anyone from starting a fire to attract passing boats. In response, Camilla helps the Judge and Dawson capture John and tie him up. Camilla, however, falls in love with John and soon regrets having helped capture him. John is later freed when the group realizes that he is the only one who can provide them with food. When the group catches sight of one of Bridle's boats in the distance, Dawson tries to start a fire, but John stops him. When John and Dawson struggle for possession of John's gun, Camilla is accidentally shot in the shoulder. Desperate to get help for his injured sweetheart, Dawson signals a passing boat for help, which turns out to be under the command of Haage. After landing on the island, Haage captures John and the Judge and imprisons them in a cabin. Later, John siezes an opportunity to start a fight with Haage and his henchman, and manages to overpower them. He then successfully navigates Haage's boat to Seattle, and after Camilla recovers from her gunshot wound, she marries John.
