Synopsis
Little Tommy and his crippled sister Pat are living at the California Home Society, a privately run orphanage, when radio announcer Walter White Jr. notices the children and persuades the director of the orphanage to allow them to appear on his show in hopes of finding a family to adopt them. Unfortunately, most prospective parents are not interested in a handicapped child, and consequently, no one wants Pat. Although there are several offers to adopt Tommy, he refuses to be separated from his sister until Pat, who has passed the orphanage's age limit and is in danger of being sent to a state home for the disabled, convinces Tommy that he must leave her. The boy goes to live with a family, and at the last minute, Pat is rescued from the home by Mr. and Mrs. Millar, who take pity on the girl because Mrs. Millar was crippled as a child. The Millars arrange for an operation on Pat's legs, but things look grim when the surgery fails. Meanwhile, Tommy has been unable to adjust to his new home and is returned to the orphanage. Solace comes to Pat in the form of the family's warmhearted housekeeper Mary, who teaches her that happiness can be found in the Bible. One night while attempting to reach for the book, Pat falls out of bed and is struck unconscious. The doctors are amazed when Pat's accident restores the use of her legs, and all ends happily as Tommy is reunited with his sister in the Millar family.
