Synopsis
After Tommy, son of the millionaire Nevilles, is forced to testify in his parents' divorce trial, he runs away. Recently indicted racketeer Terry Malone picks Tommy up when he is hurt by a newspaper boy during a fight for rights to a city corner. At Malone's beachhouse, his daughter Kitty meets reporter Breezy Benson, who quit his job after failing to interview Gloria Neville about her divorce. In order to save face with Gloria, Tommy's bodyguard, Hogan, and his boss tell her that Tommy has been kidnapped. After receiving a tip that Malone bought children's clothes that day, the police arrive at the Malones' during an innocent party, but leave peacefully. The next morning, Malone reads newspaper headlines about the Neville custody battle and advises Tommy to bargain with his parents. Breezy agrees to be the envoy and reports to the Nevilles, who agree to hear Tommy's terms if he is returned to them by five o'clock that evening. Joe Toronto, a member of Malone's gang, schemes to kidnap Tommy on his way home and collect the ransom money. With Malone's help, Tommy returns home safely, and his parents are reconciled. Breezy gets his job back and proposes to Kitty, and her father is exonerated.
