Synopsis

Happy Manning, an unrefined but likable owner of a saloon on the Mexican border, who loves Rose, a scheming and ruthless woman, spends most of his savings on the education of his younger brother, Bob, who believes he owns a gold mine. At a football game between Oregon and California, Bob introduces Happy to his young fiancée, with whom he plans to spend a honeymoon at Happy's "mine." Meanwhile, Happy suspects a secret liaison between Rose and Joe, the croupier, and when his suspicions are confirmed, he orders her out of town. She vows revenge. When, to his surprise, Bob turns up married to Rose, Happy pretends not to know her and deceives his brother into believing he is a miner. When Rose begins to scatter her affections, she is suddenly found dead, killed by Loco, a halfwit.
