Synopsis
Big Jim Gordon and his partner, Rocco Wolf, buy the Criterion Aircraft factory as a front for their stolen aircraft operation. While Gordon is stealing planes, his sister Brenda is racing them. Brenda shares a friendly rivalry with fellow racer Speed Leslie, whose planes are continually sabotaged by Gordon's men, thus giving Brenda the winning edge. In order to support his racing, Speed accepts a job as test pilot at the Benson factory, where the Mercy Plane, a revolutionary hospital plane capable of landing in small places, is being built. On the eve of the test flight, Rocco runs Speed's car off the road, steals his credentials and the next morning, takes off in the Mercy Plane. Accused of complicity in the theft, Speed is fired and his pilot license is revoked. Brenda then convinces Gordon to give Speed a job at the Criterion plant, where he soon becomes suspicious of the plant's large production output and uncovers Gordon's operation. Determined to put an end to Speed's snooping, Rocco sets a trap for the flyer, but his plan backfires and provides Speed with conclusive evidence of the theft ring. To prove that Gordon has stolen the Mercy Plane, Speed takes off with Brenda and crashes their aircraft, thus forcing Gordon to produce the plane in order to save his sister. Speed's plan works, and after Gordon and Rocco land the hospital plane, they argue and shoot it out with each other, thus enabling Speed to take command and return the plane. After he is exonerated, Speed announces that he and Brenda are going to be married.
