Synopsis

Des Dupree, a hoofer, and his wife, Dolores, are partners in vaudeville until Dolores takes their daughter and leaves Des for a bigger part in a stock company. Three years later, they meet again in a New York theater, but their roles have changed: Des is now a down-and-out prop man while Dolores is a dramatic star, having achieved a major role in a play at the theater in which Des works. Des soon maneuvers a meeting with his daughter, and the two take to each other after only a few lullabies. During one of their visits the child falls and injures herself, whereupon Dolores becomes very upset and refuses to leave the child for her opening night. After much persuasion from Des, she finally consents to go, and when she returns, she finds that the child has pulled through as a result of her father's soothing songs. This crisis prompts Dolores to beg her husband's forgiveness--which he promptly gives--and they are reunited.
