Synopsis

A recent widow of a sewing machine tycoon, whose father has been found guilty of embezzlement, is told by her disapproving, greedy in-laws that her husband left no will. Disgusted by the treatment she receives from her in-laws, the woman moves to New York. There, she meets a woman press agent, who tells her that she has been tricked by her in-laws. Eventually the widow and the press agent meet and marry two men who are business partners. The widow's new husband, who wants to obtain control of her first husband's sewing machine company in order to avenge his father, whose patents were stolen by the company, marries her believing that he will inherit a fortune. When the widow's lecherous brother-in-law finds out that she is nearly penniless, he informs his brother of her apparent fraud and causes the couple to separate. The press agent, however, involves the brother-in-law in an elaborate plot, which finally forces him to confess his trickery in a signed document. The husband, realizing his genuine love for his wife, then reunites with the widow, who finally inherits the fortune entitled to her.
