Synopsis
On the day of his wedding, Tony, a successful Parisian commercial artist, is taken to breakfast by his best man, Julien. They encounter a waiter, Fernand, who describes his pathetic fate as a husband. Once a carefree hoodlum, he succumbed to Sophie's charms only to end up a henpecked employee in her family's restaurant. Julien adds to the dour matrimonial picture by recounting how he falsely confessed to having an affair with his secretary, Denise, when the husband of his mistress, Isabelle, became suspicious, and how he was forced by Denise's father to marry her. Julien further persuades Tony that his fiancée hatched a plot to ensnare him. Tony reacts by abandoning his fiancée at the altar, giving her honeymoon cruise ticket to Fernand, and setting off for Greece. In the course of the trip, Fernand forms a liaison with Madame Armande, a wealthy, middle-aged woman. In Greece, Tony becomes involved with Sandra, a glamorous swindler, and agrees to marry her; he is certain, however, that the marriage will never last.
