Synopsis

King Wilhelm's three sons, Hans, Frederick, and Alfred, seek the magic fountain, the waters of which will revive their dying father. In turn, the evil princes Hans and Frederick are turned into ravens when they tease Gregory, a dwarf who knows the fountain's secret. The fountain is in an enchanted castle guarded by Princess Kathryn. Noble Prince Alfred dispels the curse from the castle with his magic sword, but Alfred's brothers, restored at Alfred's request to human form, cast him in disrepute with the king. Nevertheless, Alfred proves himself; he regains his father's favor and marries the princess. All are reconciled. [In the second version, the villainous brothers are banished.]
