Synopsis

Paw, the orphaned son of a West Indian woman and a Danish sea captain, is sent to live with his Aunt Frieda in Copenhagen. When his aunt dies, the townspeople display their prejudice against the dark-skinned boy until Anders Nilsson, a poacher, takes him in. Nilsson eventually is caught and fined for poaching, and Paw is sent to reform school. Paw escapes and goes to live in the woods with a baby fox. Later he is wounded by a duck poacher and then taken in by a squire and his daughter Yvonne. The squire hires Nilsson to be his gamekeeper, and Paw becomes his helper.
