Synopsis

A fictional account of the last night in the life of Lupe Velez. In reel one, Lupe carries flowers into a luxurious room. She sits down, drinks some wine, ambles around the room, plays with a cat, places a record on the phonograph, dances, swallows a pill, smokes, makes an effort to eat, drinks, and gets up to walk around. During the last 5 minutes of the reel, Lupe is seen lying motionless on the bathroom floor with her head on the toilet seat. In reel two, Lupe is sleeping in a bed. She awakens and makes a telephone call. A man enters and gives her a haircut. They converse inaudibly for a period of time.

In 1967, The Film-Makers' Cooperative released a picture, also titled Lupe, satirically depicting Lupez's life, directed by José Rodriguez-Soltero and starring Maria Montez (see below).
