Synopsis
Françoise, a famous French film actress, comes to Hollywood to make a film and meets Henri, a composer who has also come from France to work on the film. The two are gradually drawn to each other but continue to telephone their spouses, who have remained abroad. Finally, they spend the night together, and in a rented convertible, they drive to Las Vegas, tour the Southwest (imagining that they are being attacked by Indians as they drive through Monument Valley), and fly to New Orleans to listen to jazz in a nightclub. Françoise calls her husband and tells him of the affair, and she and Henri decide to go their separate ways. Henri calls Françoise from New York, however, to tell her that he wants to meet her in Nice. Françoise arrives for their rendezvous, but Henri does not appear.
