Synopsis

Finally landing a backer, Abe Feinstein, for their first full-length musical show, writers Paul Russell and Dick Norton spot their ideal leading lady in June Vernon--or, rather, Dick spots her and falls in love with her at first sight. Frank Belmont, owner of a popular nightclub, wants June to be in his new revue, and her ambitious mother is inclined to agree--even when Dick's show is a hit on opening night. Forced to choose between her mother and Dick, June joins Belmont's show, where she enjoys success, while Dick tears up June's contract and disappears. Sometime later a gay party from Belmont's, which includes June, stops at Kelly's "Honk A Tonk." Noticing that the pianist is especially good, the crowd persuades June to sing. The song she chooses results in her reunion with Dick, the pianist. Belmont walks out, and Paul, Dick, June, Abe, and Mrs. Vernon get together to work on a new show.
