Synopsis

In World War II, when the Philippines are overrun by the Japanese, a Filipino guerrilla and an American major round up stranded American refugees. They then set out to a rendezvous with a submarine. As they fight their way through the jungle, they meet up with Filipino bandits. When one of the refugees, a young girl, is kidnaped by the bandit group, the guerrilla leader, Ramón, with whom she has fallen in love, rescues her but is wounded in the process. The guerrilla group is rescued by a friendly tribe of pygmies, but the bandit leader, Bruno, reappears and fights Ramón. Bruno is killed, and Ramón is fatally bitten by a cobra. He is left behind to die when the girl and the others are rescued by the submarine.
