Synopsis

As part of a malevolent scheme to win Martha Sharon, the niece of his business rival, Henry Sharon, stable owner Lew Ralston plots to ruin his rival and then offer financial salvation in the form of a marriage to Martha. However, Sharon checkmates Ralston by faking his death and willing the ownership of his sole remaining horse, "Certified Check," to Martha and his ailing friend, Jeff Clayton. Jeff and Martha begin to race the horse, but Certified Check is a certified loser until the "ghost" of Sharon tells stablehand Tucky that the horse can not race in a rail position. Away from the rails, the horse begins to win and Ralston, with his henchman, Dell Baker, schemes to prevent Certified Check from running in the upcoming Santa Anita handicap race. Meanwhile, Martha, Jeff and Jeff's friend, jockey Danny Welch, recruit a truck driver, his moving company and a sheriff to help hide their long shot horse. The team manages to overcome all obstacles, as Certified Check wins the race, Ralston is ruined, and Sharon, his goal accomplished, returns to life to see Martha and Jeff pledge their love to each other.
