Synopsis

Ranger Tom Lanning leaves his sister under the watchful eye of his dog, King, while he is out on business. When he returns, he discovers his sister has been murdered by the notorious outlaw, Butch Kohler, also known as "The Tiger." Tom loses faith in King because of his sister's death and, using a pseudonym, goes on a crusade to find Kohler. He travels with King to Kohler's town, where he discovers that Kohler is holding Ruth Farnum against her will so she will be forced to marry him. Kohler corners Tom, and when King refuses to identify his owner which would save his own life, Tom reveals his true identity as a Ranger. Tom and Kohler fight on the edge of a cliff, where King gives Kohler the final push over the edge.

Notes

A Hollywood Reporter review lists the film's title as The Long Trail. Although the writers differ, the plot of this film is extremely similar to that of the 1935 Reliable release Skull and Crown. According to a modern source, this is a feature version of a 1931 Metropolitan serial titled The Sign of the Wolf. No contemporary confirmation of this claim could be found, however.
