Synopsis

When a series of mysterious fur robberies confound Police Captain McGrath and his entire department, detectives Bob Curtis and Doyle are assigned to the case. The gang responsible for the thefts is made up of Mile-a-way, Mable, Trigger, Chuck and Louie, and they use shop owner Reggie Fields as their fence. Peggy Arnold, a checkroom attendant in a hotel, is implicated in one of the thefts, but Bob does not believe that she is involved with the gang. The two fall in love and become engaged. When Peggy is fired from her job, Fields hires her, only to have Mable frame her for another theft. Peggy is arrested by Doyle and placed in a police line up. Bob, still convinced of Peggy's innocence, arranges for her bail when he learns that Mile-a-way is smitten with her. Hoping to lure Mile-a-way into their trap, Bob, Doyle, McGrath and other detectives wait for him to show up at Fields' shop to meet Peggy. Their plan goes awry, however, when the gang captures Doyle and Peggy, whose cover is blown. Peggy is locked in Fields' vault and left to die of ammonia poisoning, but Doyle manages to escape and get help. Bob and the others arrive in time to rescue Peggy and capture Fields, and Bob is later promoted to lieutenant.
