Synopsis

This docudrama explores the theory that President Lincoln's Secretary of War, Edward Stanton, was responsible for his assassination. It supposes that Stanton planned the murder because of his anger over Lincoln's refusal to let the North punish the South for the Civil War, but this assassination plot was foiled when John Wilkes Booth learned about it, decided to kill Lincoln himself, and did it first. Then Stanton's assassin is captured by mistake and killed, and Booth is never captured or punished for the crime.
