Synopsis

Wolf Hardy, the leader of a band of rustlers, is shot in an ambush and instructs another gang member, Cookie, to take Jim Norris, his protegé known as "The Cub," away to lead a "straight" life. In order to convince Jim to leave Wolf, Cookie tells him that Wolf was killed by the bullet. Cookie and Jim stop at a saloon where a wedding is about to take place and they recognize the bridegroom as the Blanco Kid. Blanco offers Jim a job, but Jim turns him down, explaining that he is looking for an honest job. By accident, Jim meets Judy Lanning and realizes that although she is supposed to be Blanco's bride, she actually knows nothing about the wedding. He rescues Judy from Blanco and as a reward, her father, Col. Lanning, offers Jim and Cookie jobs. Blanco threatens to reveal Jim's past to the Lannings if he does not go along with plans to steal their cattle. Jim refuses and Blanco makes an anonymous call to Lanning. In the meantime, Jim has discovered that Wolf is still alive and is in on the plans to steal the cattle. Although Judy persuades her father that Blanco is just out for revenge, when Jim is found with Wolf's gang, Lanning becomes convinced of his guilt. Blanco decides to steal Lanning's payroll as well as his cattle. Fortunately, Jim sees Blanco arrive and drives him off with Wolf's help. Lanning now knows the truth, and when the sheriff tries to arrest Wolf's gang, Lanning refuses to press charges and gives them time to cross the border to safety. According to Wolf's wishes, Jim stays behind with the Lannings.
