Synopsis

Pancho, the lifetime companion of kind Mexican bandit Chico Villa, dreams that he and Chico are shot in Arizona, and later warns Chico not to go there. Despite Pancho's advice, Chico takes Pancho to Arizona, where they rescue Pedro Gomez, a saddlemaker, from a lynch mob that believes he has been aiding an impostor Chico Villa in a series of robberies. Chico next saves Alice Mason and her mother when their coach, which was ambushed by the robbers, runs out of control. Chico inquires about the robbery in town and discovers that local outlaw Smoke Kirby ambushed the coach. After Chico retrieves Alice's stolen locket from a saloon girl, he accompanies Alice and her mother to Fort Roberts to meet Alice's brother Frank. Meanwhile, Frank gets orders to lead a group of cavalrymen to arrest Chico. Kirby follows Chico and demands a duel, but when Kirby cheats, Chico mercifully spares his life. When Frank arrives on the scene, Kirby accuses Chico of being Chico Villa. Chico is then arrested after Alice's locket is found on him. With Pedro's help, Chico and Pancho escape by holding up Frank, and Frank is accused of setting them free out of sympathy for Alice, who has fallen in love with Chico. Believing that Alice devised the escape, Frank accepts a court-martial to protect her. Chico eventually gets a signed confession from Kirby stating that he posed as Chico Villa and turns it over to Frank's superior officer, who exonerates him. Chico later tells Alice that while he will always think of her, he must remain a wanderer. After giving Pedro gold to buy his own saddleshop and wishing him "many children," Chico rides out of Arizona with Pancho.
