Synopsis
Ernest Tilley, a passenger on a jet bound for New York from London, is a formerly brilliant scientist who has been mentally disturbed ever since his only daughter was killed by a hit-and-run driver. Shortly after departure, Tilley rises from his seat and accuses fellow passenger James Brock of being responsible for the accident; in an emotional outburst, he accuses the entire human race of sharing the blame, then announces he has hidden a bomb aboard the jet. The passengers panic, and Mulliner, an industrialist, plots to kill Brock in hopes of appeasing the madman. Brock, however, shatters a window in desperation and is sucked out when the decompression causes an explosion. The demented Tilley, still in need of revenge, at first refuses to reveal the bomb's hiding place but finally relents and permits its dismantling after being momentarily touched by the only child aboard. With calm restored, the jet continues toward its destination.
