Synopsis
A young man, Randy, returns to his hometown in upper Minnesota hoping to resume his life as a trapper and woodsman. Discovering that the market for animals pelts has dropped, Randy instead becomes involved in the more stimulating world of snowmobile racing. The racing community is not all it appears, however, and soon Randy's girl friend Ann is mysteriously murdered. Later the town's bully is murdered while snowmobiling across the Canadian boarder on a heroin delivery. Suspicious that Randy is involved in the deaths, the town forms a posse that arrests him and accuses him of murder.

Notes
The working title of the film was Into the Storm. As noted in Hollywood Reporter production charts and a Box Office news item, the picture was filmed entirely on location in Thief River Falls, MN, where its world premiere was held. Although the Box Office item reported that It Ain't Easy was the first film shot in Minnesota, at least one earlier film, the 1965 release Man on a Mission , had been shot in the state.
No national release date has been located for It Ain't Easy, which May have had only a regional distribution. The only review found was in the November 29, 1972 issue of Variety and was written based on a Minneapolis, MN theatrical screening of the picture. It Ain't Easy was the only feature directed by Maurice "Maury" Hurley and marked the feature film debut of popular film and television character actor Lance Henriksen.
