Synopsis

At an army outpost, Lieutenant Fred Dawson requests a leave from his superior officer because his father has been shot and Fred hopes to settle a possible range war at home. Taking his army friend, Doc Flanders, with him, Fred poses as a singer with Doc's medicine show, which peddles "miracle medicine for man or beast." Near his home, Fred spots an arsonist and, while unable to capture him, chases him to sheepman Joe Allison's ranch, where he disappears. While Fred helps Joe's daughter June re-wash the clothes that he has accidentally pulled off the line, Joe secretly tells the escaping arsonist, his partner, Ed Brandt, that his acts of violence have now gone too far. When Fred arrives home, his father tells him that Brandt has been brewing trouble between the cattle ranchers and the sheepmen, and that a range war is imminent. Suspecting that someone is behind Brandt, Fred suggests that his father give a barbeque for both sheepmen and cattlemen. During the barbeque, an argument erupts and Joe is shot just as he is about to reveal who is responsible for the recent trouble. Suspicion falls on Fred, who is arrested, despite Jane's pleas that he is innocent. While Brandt heads a lynching party, Doc helps Fred escape from jail. Fred then fights Brandt, who finally reveals that the person behind him is banker Theodore Jason. As head of the local stockmen's association, Jason had been hoping to purchase cheaply enough land to control the territory. After the sheriff arrests Brandt and Jason, Fred and June look toward their future together.
