Synopsis
A group of eight female Texas prison inmates form the Goree All Girl String Band, hoping it might gain them early release in the 1940's. They soon become a radio sensation, but decide to hide from fame in an effort to avoid the stigma for serving hard prison time.

Based on the article "O Sister Where Art Thou" written by Skip Hollandsworth and published in the Texas Monthly.
Skip Hollandsworth spent 8 years doing research on the story. He located the last surviving member of the Goree Girls, and was able to sketch backstories for the group of women, some of whom were in prison for murder.
