Synopsis

Charles Blaydon, a young real estate dealer, rents a fashionable suburban house to Weaver, a wealthy art collector, but is unable to sell it until another buyer purchases the neighboring house. As Charles is in love with Weaver's daughter, he is desperate to find a buyer and mistakes a gang of bank robbers who stop near the house as prospective tenants. That night Weaver invites them to his house, and Charles is horrified to find one of the guests stealing valuable curios, though Weaver is delighted with his new neighbors and will not believe that they are thieves. "Spider," posing as Van Dyne, takes Kay to a gang rendezvous; they are followed by Charles, who starts a row but manages to escape. The gangsters are recognized by the police; Charles, dressed as a black cat, frightens Van Dyne, arousing Kay and Weaver as the police arrive. Weaver agrees to buy both houses, and Charles is united with Kay.
