Synopsis

Sergeant Tim Daley of the highway patrol gives beautiful Millie Garland a ticket for speeding. Millie is a performer at a nightclub owned by gangster Trigger Talano, who is rumored to be her boyfriend, although she refuses to have anything to do with him. The smitten Tim asks Millie to the motorcycle races to see him break the world speed record, and the couple soon becomes an item. Trigger becomes jealous and frames Tim into what appears to be a dereliction of duty. Tim is expelled in disgrace and, hoping for vindication, he plots to drive Trigger out of business. Tim gathers together a group of former criminals he had sent to jail and then befriended, and they agree to assist him. One by one, Trigger's bootlegging, gambling and robbery rackets are dismantled by Tim and his gang. Aware that Trigger robbed a jewelry store several months before, Tim hopes that the sudden downward spiral in his "businesses" will force Trigger to fence the diamonds remaining in his possession. Langdon, a jeweler and Millie's uncle, is persuaded to help Tim. Langdon purports to be interested in purchasing the gems, and meets Trigger. As soon as the stolen items are revealed, Tim enters with his gang, announcing that he is moving in on Trigger and taking over the cafe. However, a radio has been left on and Trigger learns from a police broadcast that patrol cars are on the way to join Tim. Trigger tries to escape with his loot, but Tim captures him. After he is restored to his job and awarded a medal of honor, Tim finds that he has also won Millie's love.
