Synopsis

Jimmy Gray, a reporter, is a friend of Lane Garwood, who works in a bank. Lane's sister Ellen is engaged to bank officer Frank Kenton. Kenton becomes involved with gangsters and to cover himself, frames Lane for his criminal activities. When things get complicated, Kenton decides his only way out is to have Lane murdered. During a society auto race, Lane has an accident, and while he is at the hospital, it is discovered that he was shot. When the surgeon who discovered the bullet in Lane's heart is killed too, Jimmy suspects Kenton is linked to the gangsters. He tracks them to their hideout, where he discovers Kenton. A shootout ensues but Jimmy escapes to warn Ellen. He then flies to San Francisco, where he alerts the police to the gangsters' attempted escape and phones the story in to his paper, asking his editor to hold it until after the gangsters are captured. After their rescue by the police, Ellen and Jimmy realize they are in love.

Notes

According to press releases, director Stuart Patton sometimes beat time to hold his actors to a certain tempo. Dramatic scenes were conducted to waltz time.
