Synopsis
Sohrab, head of the workers of the Isfahan Foundry, has just had his fourth daughter. He would like to have a son, but his wife should not get pregnant again due to health reasons. As a result, she tries to persuade her husband to get a vasectomy. But Sohrab's late father come to him in a dream and forbids him from getting the surgery. Sohrab becomes torn between pleasing his wife or his father. His wife refuses to change her mind and his father takes Sohrab on a visit to hell to show him what punishments await those who elect to become sterile. Even the local mullah, who has influence at the foundry, pronounces himself publicly against Sohrab's operation. As a consequence, Sohrab's fellow workers turn away from their him. They even stop talking to him. Sohrab returns to the doctor's office to get some advice and the doctor presents him with some surprising information.
