Synopsis

Konstanty Grot is a psychiatrist. While sorting through documents damaged during a flood, he discovers that the files for a patient named Pawel Plocki have gone missing. The patient is unable to communicate and completely unresponsive. Despite the hospital management objections, Konstanty treats the patient to try to recover his memory and identity. In doing so, he takes the Pawel home in hopes of getting him to feel some normalcy. At the same time, he conducts an investigation, to find out who exactly admitted the patient to the psychiatric ward and why his files have disappeared. But, as the therapy begins to work and more details about Pawel emerge, Konstanty begins to have doubts about the wisdom of his efforts.
