Synopsis
Late in 2000, Canadian expatriate Bill Sampson, who was working in Saudi Arabia as an engineer, was taken into custody, beaten, imprisoned and tortured for reasons unknown to him. Charged with terrorism, Sampson spent 31 months in solitary confinement and was sentenced to death by beheading. Although he had dual citizenship as a Canadian and British subject, both governments were initally unwilling to intervene, but eventually Sampson was released.
