Synopsis

Cyclone Crosby is caught branding a calf by a gang of men who threaten to shoot him, but their attitude changes when he produces a note from Red Mitchell recommending him to their boss, Butch Morgan. Crosby rides into town with the men, arriving in time to witness Morgan threatening to harm Mary Courtney's father if she will not marry him. Crosby intervenes, making an enemy of Morgan. Having watched the events, Mary's young brother Bobbie admiringly asks Crosby to give him boxing lessons. Crosby agrees, hoping to become friendlier with Mary. After Bobbie and Mary leave, Crosby returns to Morgan's waiting men, where he is warned to leave town. When Mary's father John hears her story, he nervously cautions her to be nicer to Morgan. After Crosby arrives at the Courtney ranch, Mary explains that Morgan is the only rancher around who has not been bothered by rustlers and begs Crosby to stay and fight. Suspecting that Morgan is the rustler, Crosby captures two members of the gang who are waiting for the delivery of stolen cattle, and pretends that Morgan told him their whereabouts. Believing that they have been betrayed, they reveal the place where the stolen cattle are hidden. Meanwhile, John is playing cards with Morgan and losing steadily. He is about to lose his entire ranch when Crosby breaks in and accuses Morgan of cheating. Morgan's men knock Crosby unconscious, and in the confusion, John escapes. No one knows that Bobbie is watching the whole thing from a hiding place. He releases Crosby from his bonds and warns him of the danger to his father. Crosby arrives at the Courtney ranch in time to overhear Morgan tell Mary and John that he killed another rancher. Bobbie brings the sheriff who recognizes Crosby as a ranger and arrests Morgan, freeing Crosby to reveal his love for Mary.
