Synopsis

While heading for the Rio Grande, sharpshooter Tex and his sidekick, Chilo, discover rustlers have been intimidating and stealing from cattlemen outside Rio. First Tex saves Senator Black's herd, then Pop Hart's herd. Cactus, a rustler recently hired by the unsuspecting Pop, is fired after fighting with Chilo, and shoots Pop in revenge. While Tex gets Pop to a doctor, his daughter Laurie and Chilo attempt to move the herd, but the outlaws steal the cattle and kill all the Hart cowhands. Laurie then reports the loss to Mack, whose payment for the cattle Pop has already spent. Mack needs the cattle or the money by the next day. Saloon proprietor and gang leader Ike Travis then hires Red Duggan to shoot Sheriff Ed Saunders, Tex's brother, whom they lure into the bar. Tex saves Ed, but someone in the bar shoots Duggan before he can reveal the identity of his boss, and Tex is blamed for the shooting. The sheriff, meanwhile, is being blamed by a group of cattlemen led by a man named Harper for being ineffective in stopping the rustlers, and is forced to lock up Chilo and Tex. When they escape, Harper blames the sheriff, and Travis tells a mob of angry cattlemen that Tex killed Pop and stole his cattle. The senator's friend, Carson, helps Ed escape the mob, whose hysteria leaves room for the rustlers to freely move the Hart cattle. With the help of Carson's men, Tex fights the rustlers. Finally, the last two outlaws surrender and lead Tex and Chilo to the cattle. When Chilo is shot in the arm, Tex shoots the two remaining rustlers and regains the Hart cattle for Laurie.
