Synopsis
About two young women who never meet, except briefly in a street market in the New Economic Zone of Shenzhen, China. Born in the dreary town of Fushun, Li Yueying is one of the 600 million Chinese women whose lives do not seem to matter. She is uneducated, unskilled and repressed, but she has a incredible thirst for change. Meanwhile, in Hong Kong, Jenny experiences the collapse of her dreams, as her marriage ends in divorce and financial hardship. In order to make a transition, one of these women will move south, the other north. Soon, it will be determined whether or not Shenzhen is the city of broken dreams or mysterious survival.
