Synopsis
Gerald Morely's father commits suicide, leaving a note blaming his despair on a stock swindle perpetrated by John Randall. Denying the charge, Randall is himself murdered by Tom Bennett, who then has Deagan (the butler) plant the murder weapon so as to frame Jerry. Posing as her protector, Bennett persuades Randall's daughter, Gloria, to marry him. Meanwhile, Jerry falls in love with Gloria, is arrested, tried for murder, and found guilty. He escapes on Gloria's wedding night and arrives in time to overhear her admit her love for him and Bennett drunkenly confess to Randall's murder. The police join the scene, Bennett dies in a fall, his accomplice confesses, and there is a happy ending for Jerry and Gloria.
