Synopsis
An actor is found strangled in his dressing room after the performance of a play. The doorman insists that no one came through the door of the dressing room and, as the window is barred, the police do not know how the murderer entered the room. Reporter Jim Ryan becomes interested in the case. He meets Jean Royce, who shows him a note she received warning her that the actor was going to be killed. At one time, Jean confesses, she had been in love with the actor. Later, Jean receives a second note warning her that Jim will be killed. Before she has a chance to telephone him, she is shot. Jim solves the murder when he proves that the stage manager, who had been in love with Jean, poisoned the actor. The manager is arrested and Jim and Jean are free to fall in love.
