Synopsis
When the second of two mail planes mysteriously crashes in the Shiloh Mountains of California, G-man pilot Tim Caverly bails out in a parachute and searches for the gang of thieves, led by Ted Dawson, who have been looting the planes. After reading about the crashes, Natalie Brent hitchhikes to the ghost town of Shiloh to find her father, a scientist who has been conducting secret experiments in an old radium mine. Natalie gets a ride from Tim, who is travelling with his partner, Henry Brownlee. Tim plans to pose as bandit Tim Toomey in order to infiltrate Dawson's gang. In Shiloh, Tim and Henry hold up Dawson's gang, demanding a cut in the loot. Tim forces the gang to lead him to their hideout, where he informs Dawson that a plane carrying a cargo of currency is arriving soon from New York. Tim then steals Dawson's latest loot, a half-million dollars in bonds, from gang member Charlie after shooting him in the shoulder, and Henry signals the Justice Department for more men. Tim finds Brent held hostage in a radium mine and forced by Dawson to use his electrical ray to stop the planes' motors at a distance, causing them to crash. When Charlie recovers, he tells Dawson that Toomey was apprehended by G-men and is in a jail in Los Angeles, and Dawson begins to suspect that Tim is a G-man himself. When the plane from New York is due, Natalie arrives at the mine and tells her father that women and children died in the first plane crash. Dawson, realizing the approaching plane is a government aircraft, orders Brent to pull the switch which sends the deadly ray, and Tim and Dawson exchange gunfire. After Brent shuts off the switch, he is shot, but the plane lands safely. The G-men then arrest Dawson and his gang. Brent lives and Tim proposes to Natalie.
