Synopsis

When leading man Clark Gable and comedienne Carole Lombard meet at a party, they take an instant dislike to each other and she punches him in the jaw. But fate continues to bring the couple together and eventually they fall in love. However, their romance is marred by the fact that Gable is married and Louis B. Mayer thinks that the career of his biggest star will be damaged by news of their affair. Gable's wife finally does grant him a divorce and he and Lombard are married, but the happy ending to their story is dashed when she is killed in a plane crash while on a defense bond promotional tour during World War II.
