Synopsis

When the town of Monument City is in danger of becoming overrun by the forces of lawlessness led by saloonkeeper Barney Bronson, Sheriff Sam Dolan calls on his old friend, Trigger Tim Rand, to help restore law and order. Shortly after Tim's arrival, dancer Jenny Mason comes to town for a performance. Tim's first act is to challenge Bronson's hired gun, the Mesa Kid, to a duel. After eliminating the Kid, Tim goes to Dolan's office, where he meets John Stoner, a Wells Fargo Express agent, and Jeff Martin, a mine owner whose mine has just been sabotaged by Hippo Potts, one of Bronson's thugs. Later that night, a shadowy figure orders Bronson to kill Tim, and the next morning, Tim boards a runaway express wagon that explodes as he climbs on board. Shortly after the explosion, Hippo Potts finds Tim's badge on the road and offers it as proof of the lawman's demise. When Tim reappears with the payroll, however, he instructs the sheriff, Jenny, and Lanky Lent, his friend, to perpetrate the ruse that he is dead. Bronson, who has presented Tim's badge to Jenny, is given twenty-four hours by the shadowy figure to retrieve the badge and the payroll. Desperate, Bronson breaks into Martin's camp and forces the mine owner to admit that the man who has the payroll will visit him the next morning. Meanwhile, Trask, another of Bronson's henchmen, kidnaps Jenny and Lanky, but the two escape and warn Tim, who tells Lanky to meet him at Martin's house. The next morning, the two watch as Trask enters the house and begins to quarrel with Bronson. Lanky interrupts by informing them that the man with the payroll is outside, and in the confusion, Tim shoots Trask and takes Bronson prisoner. Tim forces Bronson to take him to the gang's hideout, where the shadowy figure turns out to be none other than express agent John Stoner.
