Synopsis

At a gambling casino in Southeast Asia, adventurer Joe Gaines meets Jay Wickam, an American who claims to be a tourist, and Lei Ling, whom he accompanies to her room. While Joe is momentarily absent, Lei Ling is murdered by Wickam, who has been searching her room for a cache of smuggled diamonds. After being questioned by the police, Joe boards a non-scheduled third-class airliner. Among the other passengers are Al Ross, Lei Ling's associate; Lorgren, an obese Oriental; Destiny Cooper, the latter's American mistress; and Wickam, who says he wants to share Joe's adventurous life. En route to the Philippines, the plane is forced to crash-land in the jungle. Several passengers are killed, and Ross, who is carrying the cache of diamonds, is critically wounded. Before dying, he secretly passes the gems to Joe, unaware that the real owner is Lorgren. (Ross and Lei Ling had unknowingly been working as go-betweens for Lorgren.) After Lorgren has taken the diamonds from Joe at gun point, native bandits capture the group and imprison them in a shack. Although they escape, Wickam seizes the diamonds, kills Lorgren, and shoots Destiny when she intervenes. As Wickam flees into the jungle, Joe wounds him with a pistol shot. Wickam, knowing that he is doomed, throws the diamonds into a river and then shoots himself. Joe, the last survivor, is left to await death at the hands of the bandits.
