Synopsis

Ralph Ingram, a brain specialist whose alcoholism has ruined his career, tries to regain his reputation while working with an ambulance team. He is in love with Lil Hollins, who works as a taxi dancer. Michael Rush, Lil's boss, is also in love with Lil. Her brother Buddy has gotten involved with the gang of robbers that Rush heads, and after he overhears a robbery being planned, he steals the jewels himself and then tips off the police. The police find Buddy's cigarette lighter at the scene, and the gang suspects that he double-crossed them. Buddy is wounded by the gangsters before they learn where he hid the jewels. The gangsters kidnap Ralph, who has started drinking again, and force him to perform an operation on Buddy. Ralph sends one of the gang to fill a prescription, which is really a call for help written in Latin. With Lil's help, Ralph successfully performs the operation. Buddy admits he stole the jewels, but will not reveal their hiding place. When the gangsters start to bully Lil, Buddy gives them false information. Alerted by Ralph's note, the police capture the gang, and Ralph and Lil are reunited.
