Synopsis
When two Texas Rangers are killed by the Travis Gang, rangers Tom, Frank and Captain Drummond go after them and apprehend two members, Pat and Monty. Tom then finds Jimmy, a young member, and offers to let him go if he will go straight and lead him to Travis in El Camino. Jimmy agrees and Tom releases him against Drummond's orders and, when they arrive in El Camino, joins the Travis gang. Jimmy tells his sister Joan, a dance hall girl whom Travis controls, about the undercover Ranger and Tom is not sure Jimmy can be trusted. Tom then investigates Travis' warehouse and finds a large supply of dynamite and artillery. He is nearly caught, but escapes to town, where he gives Joan a note to deliver to Drummond, warning him that Travis is about to move highly explosive contraband and calling the gang "a bunch of dummies." Meanwhile, gang member Pat escapes and exposes Tom's real identity, and Jimmy pretends he was duped. Travis then orders Jimmy to kill Tom, but when Joan is apprehended and the note is found, Travis orders Jimmy to take the note to Drummond, planning to use Tom to lure the Rangers into a trap. Jimmy proves faithful to Tom and warns Drummond, who catches Tom's code language in the note and sends a bunch of stuffed dummies on horses into Travis' hands while the real Rangers come from behind and arrest the gang. Travis, however, has planned to take Jane with him when he clears out with the contraband. After beating Travis single-handedly, Tom saves Joan from a runaway horse which goes over a cliff with the wagon full of explosives. Jimmy becomes a Ranger and Joan and Tom marry.
