Synopsis

Alice Kendall, who has always indulged her extravagant tastes, marries Fred Garlan, who after a year is fighting to keep his business financed and meet the constant expenses of his wife. He refuses her nothing--until she asks for a sable coat. Their best friend, Jim Hamilton, brags about his wife Esther's thrift, unaware that she has been given a sable coat by her wealthy lover, Harrison Morrell. When Alice and Fred quarrel over her new dress, she goes to a bridge party and he leaves on business. At the party Alice wins a large sum, receiving the flattery and indulgence of Morrell. Later, she buys a sable coat with money Morell has invested for her and joins Esther and Morrell at a restaurant. Fred sees Esther and Morrell together and warns Alice against her friend, then, discovering her coat, denounces her as a cheat. She decides to divorce him, but Esther's disillusionment and suicide lead to Alice's reconciliation with Fred and a realization of her thoughtless extravagance.

Conflicting sources indicate that either Younger or Deering wrote the original story, not both.
