Synopsis
Ryan is determined to make a film about Lenny Bruce, but to raise the necessary money and to demonstrate his talents as a filmmaker to potential producers, he must first direct a pornographic film for the commercial market. In his recruitment of actors for the project, which he organizes in Greenwich Village, he confronts a diversity of attitudes toward sex participation for financial gain. Producing the film becomes a struggle, and Ryan's girl friend Joy, who cannot accept the situation, deserts him. Other actors and friends agree to help, however, and finally shooting begins.
