Synopsis

Captain Tim Travers is court-martialed by Colonel Burke and Major Jenkins after he is accused of running guns to the Arapaho Indians and is dismissed from the Cavalry. While Tim is sympathetic to the Indians, he is innocent of the charges and sadly leaves the fort with his adopted son Jimmy. They are happy at first, but when they are joined by Sergeant O'Brien, who deserts the Army in support of Tim, the Cavalry attacks them and Jimmy is killed. Feeling betrayed by their race, Tim and O'Brien go to the Arapaho village and become members of the tribe. When the village is attacked by Jenkins and his troops, O'Brien is killed and Tim is captured. The Indians retaliate by organizing a war party against the fort. During the long siege, Jenkins is wounded, but before he dies he admits that he was the one responsible for selling guns to the Indians. Burke then begs Tim to negotiate a cease-fire with the Arapaho, which Tim agrees to do on the condition that an honorable treaty be drawn which preserves Indian lands. Peace is achieved, and Tim is reinstated into the Cavalry with a promotion to Major and an appointment as an Indian agent/
