No reviews for this documentary were found, but according to AMPAS records, it was first screened at the Los Angeles County Museum of Natural History on November 12, 1971. Although Walker was not credited in publicity as photographer, press material suggests that he shot most, if not all, of the footage. In 1971, Dr. Theodore Walker published a book based on his Lake Eva sojourn, entitled Red Salmon, Brown Bear: The Story of an Alaskan Lake Based on the Experiences of Dr. Theodore Walker. The film was nominated for an Academy Award as Best Documentary.
