Synopsis

Thiry-year-old Jamal lives in an Arab village in northern Israel, and is facing the fact that his life is about to crumble--his political convictions, his religious beliefs and his love. Jamal leaves his family and disappears into thin air. His wife, Abir, searches for him, but no one has a clue to offer her. Through her sorrow, she discovers a novel that Jamal had been writing. She learns things about her husband that she could never have imagined. In particular, she finds out about his infatuation with Laila, a promiscuous woman does not observe conservative Arab mores. Soon, it is revealed how Jamal's well-ordered life began to disintegrate and how his disappointment with naive communist doctrine led him into the arms of extreme Islam.
