Synopsis
Portrait of Brazilian president Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva's early years. Chronicles his family's immigration from Northeast Brazil to Sao Paulo, his years as a shoeshine boy and his brother's arrest which drove him into trade union activism, climaxing in Lula's heading Brazil's trade union movement and incarceration, just as his mother dies.
